Ultrastructure of Microalgae

By Tamar Berner Copyright 1993

Ultrastructure of Microalgae provides both fundamental and specific information regarding the ultrastructure of the major components of the microalgal cell. The book compares homologous structures in different groups within an evolutionary frame of reference. It covers all taxa and structures, and it incorporates new concepts that have resulted from contemporary development in EM. The book will appeal to phycologists, cell biologists, electron microscopists, and botanists interested in microalgae ultrastructure.

Ultrastructural Characterization of Eukaryotic Algal Groups (T. Berner). Cyanobacterial Ultrastructure (T.E. Jensen). Prochlorophyceae (G. Cox). Cell Coverings of Microalgae (B.S.C. Leadbeater and J. Green). Flagella and Flagellar Apparatus of Algae (I. Inouye). Chloroplast Ultrastructure (J.M. Whatley). The Ultrastructure and Function of the Contractile Vacuole (S. Aaronson). Nucleus, Nuclear Division, and Cell Division (H.J. Sluiman). Relationships of Eukaryotic Algal Groups to Other Protists (C.J. O'Kelly). Index.
