    Jeffrey C. Goldfarb is assistant professor of sociology in the Graduate Faculty, New School for Social Research. His work in The Persistence of Freedom draws from fourteen months of field research in Poland, conducted under the auspices of the International Research and Exchange Board and the Polish Ministry of Higher Education and Technology.
