    Mining Engineering is a discipline that involves the extraction of non-metallics, metal ores, solid fuel and energy sources, and other raw materials from the earth’s crust. The practice applies fundamentals of engineering along with the scientific theory, practice, application, and technology needed to recover natural resources from a naturally occurring environment. It incorporates mechanical principles along with the techniques of mineral exploration, underground and surface mining operations, and mineral processing. It draws on many fields of research including rock mechanics, rock fragmentation, plant and mine design, mine ventilation, surveying, industrial hygiene, mine safety, mineral processing, solution mining, and operations research.
