The RIBA Domestic Project Pack is a form of agreement which has been specifically designed to be used between the architect and the client where the commission is for work to the clients home; be it an alteration, small or large extension, or a new build.

It provides guidance for both the architect and the client, defining the responsibilities of both parties and also serves as a formal agreement between the architect and the client.

The Pack itself consists of two sets of colour coded documents, one for the architect and the other for the client. Whilst certain documents will be unique to the architect, such as the Model Letter and Notes for Architects, others such as the guide Using an architect for your home are designed to be given to the client in order for them to understand the tasks ahead, the benefits of using an architect and what an architect can be expected to do and charge.

The Pack may be used in one of two ways. Firstly, where both sets of documents comprising the Conditions of Appointment and the Schedule of Architects Services, together with a letter of appointment, are completed and forwarded to the client for signature, the architects set then being returned. Alternatively, the client's copy of the Conditions of Appointment and the Schedule of Architects Services, together with a letter of appointment, can be sent in the folder to the client in advance for consideration, where at a meeting to follow between the client and the architect the documents can be discussed further and signed.
