Frédéric Vivien is an INRIA senior research computer scientist. His main research interests are scheduling techniques and parallel algorithms for distributed and/or heterogeneous systems. Biography

Frédéric Vivien received a Ph.D. degree from École normale
supérieure de Lyon in 1997. From 1998 to 2002, he was an Associate
Professor at Louis Pasteur University, in Strasbourg, France. He spent
the year 2000 working in the Computer Architecture Group of the MIT
Laboratory for Computer Science. He is currently a senior researcher
from INRIA, working at ENS Lyon, France.
He visited for one year the CoRG group of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.

Frédéric Vivien is the
author of two books, 30 papers published in international journals,
and 45 papers published in international conferences. He is also the
editor of one textbook.

During his PhD, Frédéric Vivien worked on the automatic parallelization of programs. These days, his main research interests are scheduling
techniques and parallel algorithms for distributed and/or
heterogeneous systems. In particular, he focuses on problems dealing with fault tolerance, energy minimization, or probabilistic behaviors. He leads the INRIA
project-team Roma which focuses on designing models, algorithms, and scheduling strategies to optimize the execution of scientific applications.
