I am a researcher in the area of image processing and computer vision. My research activities range from fundamental pattern recognition to developing vision applications in the biomedical imaging area such as in retinal vasculature imaging for grading severity of diabetic retinopathy and digital analysis leading to objective assessment for treatment efficacy of ulcer wounds and psoriasis lesions. My current research challenges are developing new analysis techniques for early osteoarthritis, neurotransmitters in drug addiction using MRI techniques and bio-optics for skin pigmentation analysis. I have authored 2 books and published 200 research articles in journals and conferences proceedings, holds several patents, and won several awards for various work.
