Dr. Revankar is a Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University. His main focus is on Energy -science and technology with sustained and distinguished achievementsover the past three decades. He is known for working in different fields of energy engineering using experimental and analytical methods to solve complex engineering problems with minimum or no carbon emission. He has made breakthrough contributions on thermalhydraulics, safety and nuclear hydrogen.

    Multiphase flow and heat transfer,two-phase flow instrumentation, multiphase flow in porous media, microgravity multiphase flow in packed beds, fuel cell design, simulation and power systems, thermochemical water splitting hydrogen production, nuclear hydrogen generation, nuclear reactor engineering, advanced reactor design, reactor thermalhydraulics and safety.

Personal Interests

    Shripad T. Revankar is a Professor of Nuclear Engineering in the School of Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. He is also World Class University (WCU) Visiting Professor in the Division of Advanced Nuclear Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea. He received his BSc (1975), MSc (1977), and Ph.D. (1983) all in Physics from Karnataka University, India, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Vacuum Science and Technology from University of Bombay, and M.Eng. (1982) in Nuclear Engineering from McMaster University, Canada. He has worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and at the Nuclear Engineering Department of University of California, Berkeley from 1984 to 1987.

    He is an international expert in nuclear reactor safety, thermal hydraulics and nuclear hydrogen systems. He has published over 400 technical articles that include over 100 papers in archival scientific journals, over 200 peer reviewed conference proceedings and about 100 technical reports. He is also author/coauthor of two books (Advances in Nuclear Fuels, InTech, ISBN 978-953-51-0042-3, February  2012, Fuel Cells-Principles, Design, and Analysis, CRC Press ISBN 978-1-42-008968-4, To be released 2014).  He has served as research and educational consultant to academia, national laboratories and industries in Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, and USA.

    He is Life Member of the following professional societies: American Nuclear Society (ANS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Indian Society of Heat and Mass transfer (ISHMT) and Korean Nuclear Society (KNS). He is also active member of American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), and Electro Chemical Society (ECS). He was elected as Fellow of ASME in 2008. He has hosted various ASME and ANS conferences as session’s organizer, topical leader and Track leader. He is on editorial boards of six international journals including Heat Transfer Engineering, Journal of Thermodynamics, and ASME Journal of Fuel Cell Science and Technology. He has received several awards including best teacher award, best conference paper awards, appreciation awards,  seed for success award for research,  and service awards from various sectors including Universities, United States- Department of Labor, ASME, and ANS from countries India, Korea and USA.
