Sheila R. Poling is a Managing Partner of Pinnacle Partners, Inc., a training/consulting firm which specializes in Lean Six Sigma, Six Sigma, Lean, Statistical Process Control and High Performance Leadership. Sheila’s focus has been helping clients achieve strategic and tactical business excellence with an emphasis on leadership and process improvement.

Biography

Sheila R. Poling is a Managing Partner of Pinnacle Partners, Inc., a training/consulting firm which specializes in Lean Six Sigma.  Sheila’s broad professional experience includes managing/owning several consulting firms, working in operations management, product development, training materials and seminar development, marketing and sales, client interface, and customer satisfaction initiatives focused on business excellence with an emphasis on leadership and quality.

A prolific presenter and author, Sheila has presented at over 25 conferences and coauthored multiple books, including Productivity Press’…Using Lean for Faster Six Sigma Results: A Synchronized Approach and Mapping the Total Value Stream: A Comprehensive Guide to Production and Transactional Processes. BNP Media’s Brain Teasers: Real-world Challenges to Build Your Manufacturing Skills, and McGraw- Hill’s The Manufacturing Engineering Handbook.  She also co-authored the books, Customer Focused Quality and Building Continual Improvement: SPC for the Service Industry and Administrative Areas.  Her latest book will be released in September 2012 and is titled, The Right Measures: The Story of a Company's Journey to Find the True Indicators of Its Success and Values.

One special project she lead included designing and managing a custom workshop created for the Dow Chemical Executive Management Team on “Understanding Variation”.  This included designing the initial workshop, assisting in material development, working with the Dow Executive Management Project Team to integrate their feedback into their customized session and material development, and finalizing and editing the material product into book format (the work from this initiative was redesigned to become one of the bestselling management books ... Understanding Variation: The Key to Managing Chaos).  

Sheila has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality.  She is also a member of the American Marketing and Management Associations and ISSSP.  

During her career, she has had the privilege to study and work closely with many of the leaders in the management, leadership and process improvement industry including Dr. W. Edwards Deming.
