Firdos Alam Khan

Biography

I have worked for more than 23 years in higher education in India, USA, and UAE. I have done my PhD in Biology with specialization in Neuroscience. Over the past 10 years I have been associated with Manipal University Dubai, heading the School of Life Sciences and Research & Development Program.

•Received an inaugural Manipal Global Education Excellence Award for Academic Excellence under the International Campus category by Manipal Global Education Academic Excellence Award 2014 by Manipal Global Education Services, India
•Appointed as Scientific Committee Member for 8th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences: Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, Dubai, UAE
•Appointed as a member of International Advisory Board, World Biotechnology Congress, UAE
•Appointed as an Associate Editor, 3Biotech, an international peer-reviewed journal published by Springer.
•Appointed as a member of the Editorial Board of Austin Journal of Biotechnology & Bioengineering.
•Invited speaker/panelist conference organized by Dubiotech & Research Park (Now Dubai Science Park) and Dubai International Academic City, TECOM.

I have worked with world’s best Universities and organizations such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India. I have written research articles in international journals and holds two US patents for stem cell technology innovation and has PCT applications worldwide. Also written books entitled "Biotechnology Fundamentals" in 2011 and "Biotechnology in Medical Sciences" in 2014 published by CRC Press/Francis Taylor Group, USA. My expertise deals with the improving quality of research in higher education, improving the quality of course delivery in higher education, establishing research laboratories, academic-industry collaboration, academic accreditation, faculty development, international research collaboration, and initiating new academic programs.
