Christine Lefaivre has spent more than 25 years perfecting and implementing a unique treatment strategy for the traumatically brain injured as they return to their homes and communities. Lefaivre holds a BSc degree in occupational therapy from the University of Alberta and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia.

Biography
Christine Lefaivre has spent more than 25 years perfecting and implementing a unique treatment strategy for the traumatically brain injured as they return to their homes and communities.Lefaivre’s clinical practice provided consulting services throughout most regions in Canada and parts of the United States and France to third-party funders, such as litigators, insurance companies, and workers compensation boards. Lefaivre hired many clinicians who were required to complete a comprehensive in-house training program lasting up to a year on the topic of the Rainbow Effect.
Lefaivre holds a BSc degree in occupational therapy from the University of Alberta and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia. At the time of the writing of this book, Lefaivre was instructing a tutorial in neuro anatomy and neuro rehabilitation to second year Masters level students at the University of British Columbia.
Her Alma Mater recognized her achievements with the University of Alberta Alumni Honour Award for her groundbreaking work with the traumatically brain injured and she has twice been named British Columbia Female Entrepreneur of the Year in the “quality plus” category.
Lefaivre has been a consultant, lecturer, keynote speaker, member of multiple advisory committees, and a workshop leader on brain injury related topics and courses, workshops, and conferences in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Christine lives in British Columbia, Canada, enjoys the outdoors and is passionate about kayaking, alpine skiing and travel.

Christine Lefaivre's Statement of Work

For more than 25 years Christine has had the privilege of
working with individuals and families who have been dramatically
impacted by a family member’s traumatic brain injury (TBI),
many who were originally given a less than hopeful prognosis. Under
current scenarios many of these survivors would traditionally be
placed in an institution, living lives of untapped potential.
What distinguishes the LRE strategy from most others is that
it’s individually designed for each client and focuses on the
cognitive retraining of the brain based on the client’s
pre-injury lifestyle and motivations as well as the organic damage
to the brain. This differs from most current techniques that focus
on the disability alone. The intense preparatory work involved in
developing a treatment strategy focuses on the pre-injury function
and the brains capacity to relearn familiar information.
The Lefaivre Rainbow Effect identifies and develops strategies to
manage the confusing inter-related symptoms that arise as a result
of the stress experience, improving outcomes and reducing secondary
losses.
The Lefaivre Rainbow Effect approach includes the unique theory of
the traumatically induced dysfunctional family with the aim to
preserve the family unit and thus reduce the overall loss for the
survivor of the brain injury. In the end this model maximizes the
recovery process by tapping into the inner sanctuary of hope
positioning the TBI survivor to be a motivated participant in the
arduous journey of recovery.
This textbook demonstrates how health care professionals, such as
doctors, neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, speech
pathologists, social workers, physical therapists, and educators
can use the Lefaivre Rainbow Effect in their practices to improve
the therapeutic outcome for their clients and families as they
integrate back into their homes and communities.
The Lefaivre Rainbow Effect has been successfully used in community
practice with severe, moderate, and mild TBI survivors.
