Claiton M. Franchi received bachelor’s  degrees in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and master and doctor degree in Chemical Engineering in Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM), Brazil.
He is currently a professor at UFSM. Previously, he worked as an engineer and technical consultant in industrial automation and maintenance in different companies in Brazil.
