I am Observatory Director and Associate Professor at George Mason University (GMU). I was awarded the 2008 GMU Faculty Member of the Year. Past positions: Associate Chair, Physics and Astronomy; President, Potomac Geophysical Society; tour guide, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center; educational video producer; Solar System Ambassador, NASA/JPL; and, lecturer/operator, Einstein Planetarium, National Air and Space Museum. Author/editor of 9 books; and, about 100 papers in science and education.

Biography

Dr. Harold A. Geller is Observatory Director and Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at George Mason University. Scholarly interests include energy and the environment; and, the exploration of space. He was co-Investigator for the Virginia Initiative for Science Teaching and Achievement (VISTA). He continues to serve as Solar System Ambassador for the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He won the 2008 GMU Faculty Member of the Year Award.  Past positions include Associate Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy; President of the Potomac Geophysical Society; tour guide and lecturer with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center; educational producer; faculty at Northern Virginia Community College; doctoral fellow of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia; and, lecturer/operator at the Einstein Planetarium in the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. Dr. Geller has authored and edited books; and, published about 100 papers in science and education. He has been interviewed or quoted in the USA Today, Washington Post, and Huffington Post; WTOP News Radio; and, News Channel 8.
