Andrew Williams, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Art and Design History at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He teaches a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses on digital games, fine art and design history. Williams also established and curated the vintage game collection of the Gaming and Digital Innovation Lab at UW-Stout in addition to maintaining his own catalog of games, game hardware and input devices.

Biography

A lifelong player of digital games, Andrew Williams experienced the waning days of the arcade, rise of Nintendo’s empire and the transition to an online society. Little did he (or his parents) know that these experiences would prove to be beneficial for his career. After completing his BA in history, Williams attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison earning an MS and PhD in Design Studies related to historical and cultural analysis allowing him to pursue his interest in art, design history and digital games. Living in Menomonie, WI, Williams teaches courses in art and design history at the University of Wisconsin – Stout and is one of the core faculty members of the BFA in Game Design-Art.
