Biography

Yin Bun Cheung, PhD, CStat, is a paediatric epidemiologist and medical statistician. Currently he is a professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Singapore, and adjunct professor of international health at the University of Tampere, Finland. Previously he has worked in health service organisations and universities in Hong Kong, Singapore and UK, and has participated in projects in African and Asian countries. He has taught courses in behavioural sciences, epidemiology, clinical trials and medical statistics.

He is the author of Statistical Analysis of Human Growth and Development, co-author of Survival Analysis: A Practical Approach, and one of the lead authors of a Lancet series on child development in developing countries. He has been the principal investigator of five NMRC funded studies to improve statistical methodology for vaccine research and measurement of patient reported outcomes in clinical trials.

In the 1990s he volunteered and founded a primary health care organization in Hong Kong to serve people in rural China. In 2005 he joined an Oxfam fund raising event in England and walked 100 km in 21 hours. He ran the Helsinki, Hong Kong and Singapore marathons.
