Kevin L. Jackson

Biography

Kevin L. Jackson is a globally recognized cloud computing expert, Independent Thought Leader for IBM and Dell and Founder/Author of the award winning “Cloud Musings” blog.  He has also been recognized as a “Top 100 Cybersecurity Influencer and Brands” by Onalytica (2015), a Huffington Post “Top 100 Cloud Computing Experts on Twitter” (2013), a “Top 50 Cloud Computing Blogger for IT Integrators” by CRN (2015) and a “Top 5 Must Read Cloud Blog” by BMC Software (2015).

Mr. Jackson’s commercial experience includes Vice President J.P. Morgan Chase, Worldwide Sales Executive for IBM and NJVC Vice President, Cloud Services. He is currently part of a team responsible for onboarding mission applications to the US Intelligence Community cloud computing environment (IC ITE). He is also a National Cyber security Institute Fellow. His first book, “GovCloud: Cloud Computing for the Business of Government” was published by Government Training Inc. and released in March 2011. His second book, released in 2012 by the same publisher, is titled “GovCloud II: Implementation and Cloud Brokerage Services".  His next publication, “Practical Cloud Security: A Cross Industry View”, will be released by Taylor & Francis in the spring of 2016.  Professional certifications include:

Kevin has been deeply involved in the broad collaborative effort between industry and the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology on the broad adoption of cloud computing technologies. He has been certified as an instructor by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, National Cloud Technologist Association and the Cloud Credential Council. Mr. Jackson developed and delivered both half-day executive training seminars and four-day cloud computing training classes to multiple US Army Commands in the US, Europe and Korea. His formal education includes a MS Computer Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School; MA National Security & Strategic Studies from Naval War College; and a BS Aerospace Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.
Mr. Jackson retired from the U.S. Navy in 1994, earning specialties in Space Systems Engineering, Carrier Onboard Delivery Logistics and carrier-based Airborne Early Warning and Control. While active, he also served with the National Reconnaissance Office, Operational Support Office, providing tactical support to Navy and Marine Corps forces worldwide.
