Michael Tanzillo
Michael is a Senior Lighting TD at Blue Sky Studios and has been at the company since 2008. His lighting credits include Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), The Peanuts Movie (2015), Rio 2 (2014), Epic (2013), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), Rio (2011), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009). Along with lighting, he also received credits as a compositor and sky artist. Michael currently holds a BFA in Photography from The Ohio State University and an MFA in Visual Effects from SCAD.

Biography
Michael is a Senior Lighting TD at Blue Sky Studios and has been at the company since 2008. His lighting credits include Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), The Peanuts Movie (2015), Rio 2 (2014), Epic (2013), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), Rio (2011), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009). Along with lighting, he has also received credits as a compositor and sky artist on multiple projects.Along with his work in Lighting, Michael is co-founder of the education website tdu. tdu is an online school that teaches students the non-animation side of computer animation and visual effects. Along with running the school, Michael co-teaches a class entitled Principles of Lighting and has taught courses at the School of Visual Art and Pratt Institiute in New York City.
Michael co-wrote a book entitled Lighting for Animation :: The Art of Visual Storytelling. The book explores the artistic side of lighting and teaches the reader to hone their artistic eye and ultimately create successful images for animated films.
