Dr. William R. Simpson earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from The Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Administration from The George Washington University. He has held academic positions at The George Mason University, The Old Dominion University, The University of Maryland, and The Ohio State University. He has held industry positions at The US Naval Air Test Center, The Center for Naval Analyses, The ARINC Research Corporation, and The Institute for Defense Analyses. He has held elected or appointed offices in the IEEE, ANSI, IEC and OSD.
Dr. Simpson has published extensively including several full books, and numerous journal papers, conference papers, technical reports and magazine articles. He has contributed to a number of Technical Standards.
Through the years he has been a teacher at the graduate and undergraduate level, program manager, private pilot, public speaker and invited speaker on numerous occasions, workshop organizer, session chair, committee chair, standards writer, software capabilities evaluator, and information assurance evaluation validator.
