Steven Bell received his PhD from M.I.T. in 1980 under the direction of Norberto L. M. Kerzman. He was an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton University 1980-81, an Instructor, then Assistant Professor at Princeton University 1981-84. He has been at Purdue University since 1985. He held a Sloan Fellowship in 1984 and an American Mathematical Society Centennial Fellowship in 1988. He won the Bergman Prize in 1990 and was elected Fellow of the American Mathematical Society in 2014.
