Nonimaging optics has a wide range of uses and may be advantageously applied to many things, such as automobile headlamps, light guides, backlights, flashes, appliances, medical lighting, light bulbs or other applications that need illumination.
It is also an ideal tool for designing solar energy concentrators, either for concentrator photovoltaics (CPV) or thermal applications.
