Michael Ronczkowski has 27 years of diverse and extensive law enforcement experience which encompasses investigative, operational, tactical and administrative. He is widely known for his expertise in matters related to homeland security, intelligence, anlaysis and grants.

Biography

Major (honorably retired as of April 2010) Michael Ronczkowski served the citizens of Miami-Dade County for 27 years in assignments that consisted of 20+ years of investigations to include; burglary, auto theft, assault, robbery, fugitives and homeland security which included the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Major Ronczkowski retired after serving four years as the Department’s Homeland Security Bureau Commander and Director of the Miami-Dade (Southeast Florida) Fusion Center. Major Ronczkowski also served as the Chair of the County’s Terrorism Advisory Committee, member of the Southeast Regional Domestic Security Task Force, Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program and Urban Area Work Group board member for Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. He also served as an advisor for the Major Cities Chiefs Association Intelligence Commanders Group.

Major Ronczkowski has testified before both the U.S. Senate and Congress on matters related to Islamic Extremism and Emergency Response. He also served as one of the original leaders responsible for the establishment of the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative.

Major Ronczkowski holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University as well as being a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy, Session 217.

Major Ronczkowski is also an established instructor on matters related to homeland security, intelligence, analysis, and an authorized GIS instructor for ESRI. He served eight years as an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University teaching terrorism and has been an instructor for the Alpha Group Center for Crime and Intelligence Analysis for nearly 10 years.

Additional Experience:

May 2008 – Present Technical Consultant:  Self Employed Independent Contractor; Serve as a subject matter expert for national corporations focusing on emergency management, disaster response and homeland security.

March 2004 – Present Associate Instructor:  Alpha Group Center;  Instructor for the leading company for intelligence and crime analysis.  Instructor for a 3-day Homeland Security and Terrorism Analysis Course.  POST certified.

August 2002 – May 2010 Adjunct Faculty Instructor:  Florida Atlantic University; College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs; Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice.  Instructor for Terrorism & Criminal Justice courses.

April 2001 – 2006 Authorized GIS Software Instructor:  Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI).  Instruct ArcView 3.x, geographic information system (GIS) software.  Certification number 219653.  

November 1999 – 2005 Lead Associate Technical Instructor: National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center - Southeast (NLECTC-SE).  Provide technical instruction, database structure, and data cleaning assistance for the Crime Mapping Analysis Program and for ESRI ArcView GIS software.  Services are provided to agencies throughout North America.

1990 – 2010 Certified State of Florida law enforcement general topics and driving instructor, as of 2003 a certified law enforcement instructor in the State of Arkansas and as of 2008 certified in the State of Georgia.
