ZHIGANG QI
I have devoted myself to the R&D, manufacturing and marketing of fuel cell technology since January 1996. By working at H Power Corp., Plug Power Inc., MTI Microfuel Cells Inc., Wuhan Intepower Fuel Cells Co., Ltd., and Wuhan Troowin Power System Technology Co., Ltd. as a researcher, manager, and top executive, I have gained hands-on experiences in PEMFCs, DMFCs, and PAFCs. Some of my work played important roles in advancing the technology and gained myself reputation worldwide.

Biography
Currently the chief technology officer and vice-president of Wuhan Troowin Power System Technology Co., Ltd. (China), I am a seasoned electro/analytical chemist and materials scientist, and have received diverse technical and managerial trainings. I obtained my B. Sc. (Chemistry) and M. Sc. (Analytical Chemistry) from the University of Science and Technology Beijing (China) in 1985 and 1988, respectively. I received another M. Sc. (Electrochemistry) from Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada) in 1993, and Ph. D. (Polymer and Materials Chemistry) from McGill University (Canada) in 1996. I did my post-doctoral research at Memorial University of Newfoundland from Jan. 1996 to July 1997.In 1997, I joined H Power Corp. (US) as a senior staff scientist and the supervisor of the Electrochemistry Lab. In 2003, I moved to Plug Power (US) as the manager of the Analytical and Fundamentals group and was subsequently appointed as a corporate Fellow in late 2004. I joined MTI Micro Fuel Cells (US) as a corporate Fellow in November 2007, managing DMFC technology advancement in performance and durability until I moved to Wuhan Intepower Co., Ltd. (China) in 2009 as a vice president overseeing the R&D and the domestic and international collaborations in the area of renewable energy. I was appointed as the CEO of Wuhan Intepower Fuel Cells in 2013. I joined Wuhan Troowin Power System Technology Co., Ltd. in March 2014.
I have broad experience in the areas of PEMFCs, DMFCs, and PAFCs. I have 1 monograph, 6 book chapters, 56 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 9 US patents, and 7 China patents. I am the convener of IEC TC105 Terminologies working group, vice-chairman of CEEIA Fuel Cell Branch, board member of International Electrochemical Energy Institute, a technical advisor of the Knowledge Foundation (US), a member of the China Fuel Cell and Flow Cell Standardization Committee, a technical committee member of the Fuel Cell Key Laboratory in Hubei Province, a committee member of the China Industrial Association of Power Sources, the chief scientist and manager of two key projects of the “863” Plan (China) with a total funding of $14 million. My monograph “Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells” incorporating years of my experience and observations was published by CRC Press in 2014.
