FEATURED AUTHOR
Peter R. Garrett
After working for Unilever research for almost thirty years at Port Sunlight and for a short time at Bangalore I retired, acquiring visiting professorships at the University of Manchester and briefly at Rice University, Houston, Texas. Prior to working for Unilever I worked for about two years each in research laboratories of the oil industry (Koniklijke Shell, NL) and gas industry (UK).
Biography
During a career lasting 40 years I have worked on various aspects of interfacial science. These included the dynamic and equilibrium adsorption behaviour of surfactants and surfactant mixtures at fluid/fluid surfaces, solubilisation in micro-emulsions, kinetics of surfactant mesophase growth and dissolution, detergency, foam behaviour and both the basic science of defoaming and its application especially in the detergent industry.I am the author or co-author of more than 30 journal articles. I am also named as an inventor on 14 patents, the majority of which concern the application of antifoam technology.
