    Biography

    Joyce R. Starr is director for Economic and Social Development Studies and senior fellow for Near East Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Prior to joining the center in 1979, Dr. Starr served as associate special assistant to the president in the Carter White House. Daniel C. Stoll has been research associate in the Near East Studies and Council at the Center for Strategic International Studies since 1985.
