Routledge Persian and Shi'i Studies

About the Series

This series aims to publish important monographs on all aspects of Shi'i and Iranian history. The Shi'a comprise some 10% of the world's 1 billion Muslims. In Iran Shi'ism has been the established faith since the 16th century, but the Shi'a form a sizeable minority in such other countries as Iraq, various of the Gulf countries, India and Pakistan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain, as well as Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and areas in eastern Africa.

The series will aim to highlight especially the work of junior scholars. Special efforts will be made to seek out the work of scholars based elsewhere in Europe, the US and in both the Middle East and the Far East.
