About the Series

The Protein Science book series is intended to fulfill three major objectives:

  • Publish on solution chemistry of proteins and other biological macromolecules with up to date information on the chemical reactivity of functional groups and reagents used to modify such functional groups including cataloging of methods used to characterize native and modified proteins.
  • Focus on application of protein science to the commercially relevant biotechnologies of food proteins, pharmaceutical products (biopharmaceuticals), diagnostic products, bioplastics including site-specific chemical modification, spectroscopy and spectrophotometry, electrophoresis, hydrodynamic analytical techniques such as viscosity, light scattering, analytical ultracentrifugation, chromatographic fractionation, size-exclusion chromatography, and protein expression and purification systems.
  • Describe the various proteins and proteolytic enzymes in biological fluids such blood and extravascular fluid with respect to the development of therapeutic products and diagnostic methods.
