Post-Translational Modifications of Proteins discusses several important topics of interest to researchers and students in protein chemistry and biochemistry, including the occurrence and function of hydroxylated residues and the three enzymes required for their formation; the damaging effects of reactions between sugars and proteins; ADP-riboosylation of proteins outside the nucleus; and Monod, Wyman, and Changeux's concerted model for allosteric control of enzyme activity exemplified by studies on glycogen phosphorylase. The application of Fast Atom Bombardment Mass Spectometry (FAB-MS) to studies on the structure and biosynthesis of various oligosaccharide moieties in protein is examined, and the understanding of the structural diversity and function of glycoprotein oligosaccharides is discussed in this volume.
Table of Contents
Hydroxylation of Proline and Lysine Residues in Collagens and Other Animal and Plant Proteins (K.I. Kivirikko, R. Myllyla and T. Pihlajaniemi). Advanced Glycosylation Endproducts (R. Bucala, H. Vlassara and A. Cerami). Rabbit Muscle Glycogen Phosphorylase b. The Structural Basis of Activation and Catalysis (N.G. Oikonomakos, K.R. Acharya and L.N. Johnson). Mono-ADP-Ribosylation of Proteins (S. van Heyningen). Glycan Structures in Glycoproteins and Their Analysis by Fast Atom Bombardment Mass Spectrometry (A. Dell, R.A. McDowell and M.E. Rogers). Glycoproteins of Mammalian and Avian Cells (F.W. Hemming).
We provide complimentary e-inspection copies of primary textbooks to instructors considering our books for course adoption.
CPD consists of any educational activity which helps to maintain and develop knowledge, problem-solving, and technical skills with the aim to provide better health care through higher standards. It could be through conference attendance, group discussion or directed reading to name just a few examples.
Use certain CRC Press medical books to get your CPD points up for revalidation. We provide a free online form to document your learning and a certificate for your records.
