    Biography

    Dr. Gerald E. Gaull has served as Vice President for Nutritional Science at The Nutrasweet Company in Deerfield, Illinois, since 1984. He also holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University School of Medicine. Prior to this, Dr. Gaull served as Professor of Pediatrics, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine of the City University of New York, as well as attending pediatrician at Mt. Sinai Hospital. His career in pediatrics spans some 25 years in academic research, teaching and practice, with emphasis on nutrition, genetics and developmental biochemistry. Dr. Gaull graduated in 1951 from the University of Michigan and is a 1955 graduate of the Boston University School of Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and is listed in American Men and Women of Science, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in America. Dr. Gaull's honors include the 1978 Borden Award in nutrition and development of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Gold Medal of St. Ambrosiano of the City of Milan (1983). He is the author of numerous published books, original communications, and articles on nutrition, genetics, and human development. Dr. Frank N. Kotsonis is Vice President of Preclinical and Clinical Research at The Nutrasweet Company, Deerfield, Illinois. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Dr. Kotsonis was director of toxicology for the Research and Development Division of G.D. Searle & Co. prior to joining The NutraSweet Company. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. (1975) degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the M.S. degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson. He is the author of numerous articles on metabolism, nutrition and toxicology, and is on the editorial boards of several leading scientific journals. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. Dr. Kotsonis is past president of the Midwest Chapter of the Society of Toxicology and is currently on the International Life Science Institute-Nutrition Foundation Board of Trustees and the International Food Biotechnology Coun­ cil Board of Directors. Dr. Maureen A. Mackey is Associate Director of Nutritional Science at The NutraSweet Company. She received her B.S. in nutrition (1978) from the University of California, Davis, and M.S. (1981) and Ph.D. (1985) degrees from the University of Minnesota, St. Paul. Dr. Mackey has worked in the food industry for the past six years. She is also a Registered Dietitian.
