Intercellular Communication in Plants provides an overview of intercellular signaling systems, capitalizing on the results of contemporary molecular biology. Many biological phenomena are controlled by intercellular signaling systems, initiated by messenger molecules. For example, intercellular communication channels are thought to be associated with a plant's growth and dormancy development - an important adaptive strategy for the survival and regrowth of temperate perennials. This volume is directed at researchers and professionals in plant biochemistry, physiology, cell biology and molecular biology, in both the academic and industrial sectors.
Table of Contents
Chapters: Auxin as an intercellular signal Peptides as signals RNA as a signalling molecule The plant extracellular matrix and signalling Plasmodesmata - gateways for intercellular communication in plants Lessons from the vegetative shoot apex Intercellular communication during floral initiation and development Lessons from the root apex Lessons from leaf epidermal patterning in plants Lessons on signalling in plant self-incompatibility systems
"An extremely interesting book that extensively covers ten topics related to cell-cell or long-distance communication in plants. The chapters are written in a clear style and they compile the most relevant and up-to-date information in a manner understandable for anybody seriously interested in short-and long distance intercellular communication." -Annals of Botany
We provide complimentary e-inspection copies of primary textbooks to instructors considering our books for course adoption.
