    Biography

    WILLIAM BONNEZ is Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Rochester; Attending Physician, Strong Memorial Hospital; and Attending Physician, Highland Hospital, Rochester, New York, USA. Dr. Bonnez received his M.D. from the Université de Bordeaux II (now called Université Victor Segalen Bordeaux II), Bordeaux, France. As one of the discoverers of the groundbreaking HPV vaccines, his contributions to the field of infectious disease are truly immeasurable. Dr. Bonnez is a member and fellow of several professional societies, including the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Disease Society of America, and the American Society for Virology. In addition, he has received several notable awards throughout his career, such as the Annual Davey Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Research and the Wilmot’s Inspiration Award (both from the University of Rochester), Distinguished Inventor of the Year 2006 from the Rochester Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Health Care Achievement Award from the Rochester Business Journal. Dr. Bonnez has been an honored guest lecturer and presenter at various international, national, and regional meetings and symposiums on infectious and sexually transmitted diseases, and he frequently contributes to numerous journal publications by serving on editorial and review boards. Such publications include The Open Virology Journal, Antiviral Therapy, and The Journal of Infectious Diseases.
