Subjects: Engineering - Electrical

We propose and demonstrate a simple compact, inexpensive, SOA-based, dual-wavelength tunable fiber laser, that can potentially be used for photoconductive mixing and generation of waves in the microwave and THz regions. A C-band semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is placed inside a linear cavity with two Sagnac loop mirrors at its either ends, which act as both reflectors and output ports.

Alleviation of Downstream Impediments of a Passive Optical Network through Imple

Published: Jul 01, 2012 by International Journal of Emerging Technology and Advanced Engineering
Authors: ASM Delowar Hossain, M. Kouar, M. Ummy, M. Razani, Department of Electrical Engineering Technology, New York
Subjects: Engineering - Electrical

In this work, we examine the downstream impediments of centralized Ethernet passive optical networks supporting LAN emulation [inter-Optical Network Units communication(ONU)].

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement

Remote Sensing Instruments used for Measurement and Model Validation of Optical

Published: Jan 19, 2011 by IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement
Authors: Vladutescu, V.; Y. Wu; B. Gross; F. Moshary; S. Ahmed; R. Blake; M. Razani
Subjects: Engineering - Electrical, Geoscience

We developed a comprehensive Mie-scattering-based procedure including the effects of relative humidity that allows us to convert CMAQ aerosol distribution data into vertical-profile multiwavelength optical parameters.
