COURSE CONTENT
The workshop starts with insight into how the Six Sigma methodology—define, measure, analyze, improve, control (DMAIC)—can be vastly simplified for learning, applying, teaching, and mentoring. The key is in recognizing that processes have five types of problems. Participants then practice and get feedback solving the two most common problems using a three-step procedure:
• Identify the type of problem
• Find the root cause
• Address the root cause
Additional activities will provide practice on a more rigorous procedure for addressing chronic problems and designing higher-performing processes.
These techniques developed when the author was at GE have been used to increase R.O.I. for Lean Six Sigma initiatives by:
• Facilitating the application of Lean and Six Sigma principles to process improvement
• Using proven methods to help reduce start-to-finish improvement/project times
• Adopting techniques that shorten the time it takes to complete projects, reduce documentation of projects, and increase overall understanding of projects
Participants will learn and apply proven approaches for seamlessly integrating Lean and Six Sigma methodologies with learning and teaching process improvement and acquire essential skills quicker and at lower costs. For the self-initiated, this workshop will get you identifying and solving the two most common process problems within hours, rather than days or weeks.
