About the Theme

The theme Materials for Health & Medicine was developed by Thematic Program Chair, Xinqiao Jia (Associate Professor, Materials Science & Engineering, Biomedical Engineering at the University of Delaware).

The theme will showcase the latest developments in biomaterials research as they are related to health and medicine. Technical symposia will cover a wide range of topics not limited to, but including:

    Understanding the complexity of biological systems at molecular and cellular levels
    Molecular design of novel biomaterials
    Probing the interactions between materials and cells/tissues
    Designing strategies to modulate the in vivo and in vitro responses to synthetic materials
    Designing novel devices for diagnostic purposes and adaptation of microfabrication tools for biological and medical studies.
