There will be a poster competition for Case Studies in Data Analysis during the Annual Meeting in Edmonton, May 26-29, 2013. One award will be presented for the best case-study poster in each of the two case studies. The value of the award for each case study in the 2013 competition will be $500 with the intention that this award is shared equally among the members of each winning team. The Committee of the Award for Case Studies in Data Analysis will consider the quality of both the analysis of the data and the presentation of the results in reaching its decision. The Most Misunderstood ABET Criterion - Criterion 3b
Atlanta, GA | I am presenting a paper at the Annual Conference of the American Society for Engineering Education at Atlanta, GA, in June 2013.  The talk is about how important it is to train all engineering majors in statistics and statistical methods of quality.  Although the accreditation board includes statistics education as a requirement for all engineering majors, a large proportion of engineering programs do not seem to appreciate this need and do not include any formal classes in statistics as part of their curricula.  This is an attempt to alert the engineering educators to the potential deficiency in the preparation of engineering graduates when they do not learn statistics in college.
